CARLISLE CHESS CLUB

Chess is Cheap — But it isn't Free

Running a chess club for kids is not as expensive as an athletic team, a Scout troop, or almost any other activity for kids. Chess is cheap.

But there are still costs.

Chess sets and boards, larger demonstration boards for instruction, chess clocks, and medals and awards for the kids are a few of the items that must be purchased. Lost or damaged items must be replaced. The club also aims to purchase chess books and software for the Carlisle School and Gleason libraries. We plan to invite Chess Masters to give instruction occasionally at the club, and this involves expenses, too.

With about forty kids in the program, the costs do add up. We need a few hundred dollars per year to pay for it all.

We are asking for your voluntary donation to help fund the Club. We would appreciate a donation in any amount, especially if your child is currently participating in the Club's program at the Carlisle School.

Donations are Tax-Deductible

The Club is a tax-exempt charitable and educational organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code -- which means that your donation is tax-deductible.
